Critical Documents Station
Directions Home also provided funding for critical documents for
homeless clients. Critical documents include the documents that are
often barriers to housing and employment, such as a birth
certificate, driver's license or state identification, and Social
Security Card. Many homeless individuals fled an abusive situation
without these documents or have lost them on the street.
The Critical Documents section of our
website allows case managers and the general public to assist
clients in obtaining these documents. The web application provides
forms and directions for many of the documents on the federal,
state, and local level. Categories include birth certificate,
credit/financial, driver's license/state ID, education,
legal/court/notary, and social security/VA documents.
The Critical Documents Station is located on the second floor of
the Day Resource Center for the Homeless. The station serves as a
physical presence for critical document services as well as a
checkpoint for updating client records in HMIS. In addition
to revising the Tier One client information, the
Critical Documents Clerk also scans and attaches all critical
documents to the client's record. We are in the process of
handing the station over to the Day Resource Center.
Notary services are currently available Mondays and Wednesdays
from 1 to 3pm or by appointment by emailing jc@ahomewithhope.org.
