History of TCHC

The Tarrant County Homeless Coalition, a not-for-profit, 501 c(3) organization, was formed in 1989 under the laws of the State of Texas to respond to the housing and service needs of the population in Fort Worth, Texas that were unfortunately homeless.

Led by a volunteer board comprised of mainly homeless service providers, the Tarrant County Homeless Coalition has partnered with Tarrant County Community Development Division to plan and apply for federal funding. The competitive application to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development has resulted in an annual average of $2.4 million coming into Tarrant County to address homelessness, totaling over $65 million since 1995.

The City of Arlington joined the planning efforts in 2003 and Parker County joined in 2004, increasing the geographic area of the Continuum of Care planning region to two counties.
