Tenant Resources
The following helpful resoures have been grouped for tenants in
Tarrant County. They provide useful information and reference
material regarding your search for quality housing and your rights
as a tenant.
 |
Some of the forms provided are in Adobe PDF format and require
the free Adobe Reader. If not installed already, this can be
downloaded for free from the Adobe website. |
The following information is provided by the City of Fort Worth
and by the Texas Young Lawyers Association as a guide to the
general rights and responsibilities of the tenant and landlord in
various situations.
"If you plan to terminate your lease, withhold rent, repair and
deduct, use your deposit for rent, sue your landlord, or take other
serious action based on what you have read in the Property Code or
these handbooks, please consult an attorney or tenant association
to ensure all the legal requirements have been met. These
handbooks do not address every consideration that may be applicable
in a given situation."
For more information on tenant rights, please visit the Eviction Prevention page of the
TCHC website.
Go Section 8 is an online property listing service and rent
reasonableness provider. Landlords list their available
rental properties on the company's website, and potential tenants
can search for housing by rent amount, zip code, number of
bedrooms/baths and other criteria. In addition to the Tarrant
County Homeless Coalition's website, you can locate affordable
housing on Go Section 8.
Remember, if you are not on the Section 8 (Housing Choice
Voucher) program, you will need to remain within the 30% income
limits of your program.
